The Busiest Container Ports in the World

Shanghai has topped the global container table every year since 2010, passing 49 million TEU in 2023. Singapore follows at about 39 million, with Ningbo-Zhoushan, Shenzhen, and Qingdao filling the top five.

Busan and Tianjin anchor East Asia, while Rotterdam leads Europe at about 13 million TEU. Los Angeles and Long Beach together form the largest North American complex.

Tanger Med has stormed into the top ranks and leads Africa. Rankings shift with trade cycles, but East Asian ports hold the top spots and show no sign of letting go.
