Overview
Founded by Alexander in 331 BC, the greatest harbor of the Hellenistic world. The Pharos lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders, and the Great Library made it the light of the ancient Mediterranean. Grain fleets sailed from Alexandria to feed Rome.
