The largest port in the Nordic countries
Location and Figures
Overview
On the Swedish west coast at the mouth of the Gota alv, Gothenburg handles a large share of Swedish foreign trade in containers, cars, oil, and ro-ro freight. The Swedish East India Company sailed from here in the 18th century, and Volvo exports still flow through its terminals to world markets.
